Healthy architecture adds values to place and environment. And healthy architecture connects itself to its environment and to the users. At Fish Design Lab we strive to achieve these goals everyday. We also believe in the power of communication. Working closely with clients and users we explore to find best solution and expand our understanding of architecture.

We are located in Boston Massachusetts and offer a full service of architecture and interior design from conception through construction administration. The Fish Design Lab for Architecture received recognitions for its design excellence including the first prize in Future of Design Competition by Boston Society of Architecture in 2008. In 2011, Fish Out of Water, our proposal for an international design competition held by the Shift Boston was included in Jury's Selection and Temple of Science proposal was one of the three projects to receive Honorable Mention from Architizer out of a several hundreds of submissions. Our works have been exhibited at ICA and World Trade Center in Boston. We participate in 1% Pro Bono Design Public Architecture Program.



Myoungkeun Kim AIA CCCA LEED AP

As a founder and a design leader,he has spearheaded design efforts in all projects since its establishment. Implementing design technology and integrating sustainability standard into design schemes are also part of his efforts within the practice. Prior to establishing Fish Design Lab he has practiced architecture and urban design as senior designer and project manager at the industry-leading design firms including Machado and Silvetti Associates, Kyu Sung Woo Architects, Gensler, and Goody Clancy in Boston. While working at Machado and Silvetti Associates, he joined the team during Construction Document phase and later promoted to a project manager to oversee construction of a 50,000 square feet of Civic Building in Silver Spring, MD. The project has been published through various media including Inform Magazine and Architecture News Plus. The project also has received prestigious design awards including AIA Maryland design award Public Project of the Year, 2011 New England AIA Design Award, 2011 BSA Design Award, the 2011 Gold Award from Building Design + Construction Magazine, the Excellent in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors, and Paul Waterbury Award from Illumination Engineering Society. Mr. Kim has taught design studios and workshops at Boston Architectural College, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Roger Williams University. He graduated with a Master in Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Architecture in 2002. He is an active member of Boston Society of Architects, the United States Green Building Council, and American Institute of Architects. He is also NCARB certified and registered to practice in New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Texas.



Hyeonjoo Park AIA LEED AP

Ms. Park has joined the firm as a director in 2008 with 13 years of experience and has collaborated with Myoungkeun Kim on Fish Design Lab’s hall mark projects. She has skillfully integrated the culture of collaboration and spirit of inclusiveness not only within the office but also with entire project team and related entities. Her passion for material and detail investigation forms the core of firm’s commitment to deliver the projects in both technically and aesthetically high quality without compromising the uniqueness of design solutions. Prior to joining Fish Design Lab she practiced architecture in New York and Atlanta ranging commercial, residential, and adaptive reuse projects. As a project architect in a design-build practice INO Architects overseeing mixed-use projects including the Paragon at Satellite, she proved her care for people, design, and detail by successfully executing projects to satisfaction. Her tactical approach and deep understanding of design and construction issues gained through tight budget and schedule situations have been invaluable assets to the practice. She received a Master in Architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology with SGF prize for her thesis project in 2002. She is an active member of Boston Society of Architects, the United States Green Building Council, and American Institute of Architects. She is registered to practice in Georgia.
